Skyfang had left the TempestClan camp silently, longing for a hunt. He padded into the Twoleg field, where prey was most likely to be found. The warrior flexed his muscles, thinking about the hunt ahead of him. What should he catch? Shrugging, Skyfang opened his jaws to drink in the scents around him. Mouse! The warrior quickly dropped to a hunters crouch, as silent as the sun sliding down into the horizon. He located the mouse. It was scuttling nearby in a clump of vegetation. The brown-furred tom slowly crept forward, stalking the mouse. His pawsteps made no sound. Any kind of snap or breath could give him away and ruin his catch. The warrior was close enough to pounce. He leaped toward it, claws outstretched. Before the mouse could give any sign of alarm or register what was happening Skyfang sank his claws into the plump flesh. Satisfied, he scraped earth over the fresh-kill so he could collect it later.

"Having fun?" Wolfhowl crept underneath the overgrowned vines and plants over to Skyfang. "What do you think about hunting together? If we go seperate, we'll scare off the prey twice as easily."

"Sure," Skyfang replied, dipping his head respectfully in greeting to the TempestClan deputy. If we haven't scared the prey off already he added silently. Any nearby prey within earshot would have been long gone at the sound of cats talking. He looked around and lifted his muzzle into the air, sniffing. "Hare!" he exclamied, excited. Hares were fast but plump and juicy if caught. He held his tail up to silence Wolfhowl from saying anything more. He sensed the hare eating grass behind a tree a deerlength away. It obviously was unaware of the two predators.

Wolfhowl silently crept over to the opposite side of Skyfang. If the hare caught the scent of one of them, the other could head it off. Wolfhowl stalked down. He was just waiting for the chance to pounce and taste some hare.

Skyfang accidentally stepped on a twig. The hare took off, launching itself away with it's big feet. Without hesitation Skyfang raced after it, paws gliding through the air and barely skimming the ground as he pursued it. Hares were fast, but not fast enough for grownc cas like him who know the territory welll. Skyfang easily dodged thornbushes and roots as he weaved through the field after his prey. He judged the distance between him and the hare. He was close enough to pounce. Putting on an extra boost of speed the TempestClan warrior lunged for the rabbit, pushing off from the ground with an enormous leap. His claws sank into the soft flesh. Skyfang grabbed it by the scruff and shook it violently until it stopped breathing and lay still.

As soon as Skyfang took of for the hare, Wolfhowl spotted a squirrel. He ran at the time time Skyfang ran. The squirrel only froze and stared as it heard the twig snap. The massive tom pounced before the wind could give away his scent. The mammal never stood a chance as Wolfhowl pounced on it. He had no need to bite down hard, for it died in shock than pain.

Skyfang gave the deputy an approving nod. "Great catch!" he mewoed. All prey was needed, mo matter what season. Their catches would surely fill a cat's belly. Skyfang focused to find more prey. Birds soared through the sky, much too high for the TempestClan warrior ro reach. Sometimes he longed to sprout wings and pursue them. And hedgehogs can fly! Skyfang thought, rolling his eyes in scorn.
