Forbidden Fruit is Always Sweeter

Sagepaw of TempestClan loves her job as a Medicine Cat. It's her dream come true - until she falls in love, which, as everyone knows, is forbidden to her. While hunting for herbs, poor Sagepaw can't find any Watermint because of the New-Leaf floods. But thankfully a tom from SolarClan sees her near the border and offers her some. He takes her to one of the logs that marks their border where he shows her some Watermint next to it. She gratefully takes the herb and the tom asks to meet her again. She agrees, slightly confused though.

So the two apprentices meet several times and although they don't realize it themselves, they've fallen for each other. Eventually, they do realize this and it's a disaster. The tom and Sagepaw have mated and now the two must suffer the consequences. Sagepaw is now heavily pregnant, and it's noticable. The tom leaves Sagepaw, believing her best interests to be at heart. Sagepaw is heartbroken at the loss of her mate. </3

So while Sagepaw is sleeping one night, she recieves a dream from StarClan. They tell her they know what she's done and that she can't be a Medicine Cat anymore. Since Sagepaw's record is very clean [she's been a goody-goody all her life], StarClan allows her to stay in the clan, but as a warrior, not a Medicine Cat apprentice. Her mentor is with her when StarClan tells her all this. he had realized before of course, but now that it's official, he tells Glacialstar.

So now Sagepaw is in the Queen's den, given a new mentor, Glacialstar. Some may believe this to be a reward more than a punishment, but Glacialstar wants to keep a close eye on Sagepaw from now on. Sagepaw finally has her kits. There are four of them, names undecided yet. When her kits don't need to be nursed anymore, Sagepaw goes to her apprenticeship. She bitterly and grudgingly does her apprentice duties, wishing so much that she could be a Medicine Cat Apprentice again. Actually, another apprentice has taken over her duties. Sagepaw naturally has a hatred towards this cat and throws him/her dirty looks all the time.

After about a week, a cat becomes seriously ill and the current medicine cat is out herb-hunting. The current apprentice is freaking out and asks Sagepaw for help. She agrees and rushes to the scene when she finds one of her clanmates incredibly sick. She mixes up a rarely-used poultice that she'd been taught just before losing her position. It consists of Watermint [coincidentally, the same watermint the tom found for her on that first day], Poppy Seeds, and Pine Needles. After a few hours of careful treatment from Sagepaw, the cat becomes well again and Sagepaw wisks out of the den, angry that after that display of work, she has to go back to the stupid duties of regular apprentices, caring for the elders, killing their ticks, hunting, battle training, etc.

However, that night, Sagepaw recieves another dream from StarClan. They tell her that she has fantastic skills; memory, organization, kindness, helpful, in short - all the qualities needed to be a Medicine Cat. They also tell her that her destiny lies not with warriors, but with StarClan at Cessation Cavern as a Medicine Cat. After this, Sagepaw is given her position back, the other apprentice gratefully giving her the position back, glad to be free of those pressures.

The lithe black form stumbled blindly through the large, overgrown thickets of untamed brambles. such a particular kit would seldom be scared had it been a little lighter, had the thorns be sparser and thinner, and if every little thistle had not looked as though it was a threatening unsheathed claw. "can anyone hear me !? " the clan kit squealed in a tremoring voice. "it - it's paintkit!." further and more lost into the forest she continued. the trees above her gave her no relent of moonlight until she reached a small glittering stream bathed with splashes of glowing luminsecence. this left her to glow herself, to see such a light that she had not seen for a little while. her green eyes began to twinkle thoughtfully. Suddenly, the kit whined, wimpered, wailed, and began to sob. to calm herself, she curled up against the river, cautious not to fall in, and slept.
